What's New Tuesday.....
It is a travel day today for Carl and I. We are driving back to Chicago to be with our daughter again for a few days.
On Saturday we are going back to Benton Harbor Michigan for a high school gettogether at a bar. My brother is spending 600.00 for a ticket from LAX to Chicago for just this one day. I think he is nuts!!!!!! I dont know how he is getting the money cause he doesnt work. He thinks money is given to him on a silver platter. More about that one later!!!!!
Anyway it is gloomy here and I think we are going to be driving in some rain....
Margo my prayers are out there for Alexa.
So hope everyone is well and getting better.
IE Pat R, Connie D and everyone else.
Carla
All is well in my world...Millie hope you are feeling better now.
It's Tuesday and it's beautiful. Planning on a walk on my break-time. Will do a bike ride later tonight after I get home.
Volunteer Time with the No one dies alone today from 4-8pm. Sitting with a dying gentleman who has no family...Hopefully I will bring him peace sitting by his side. Doing this little thing is so gratifying and full filling.
You all have a blessed day. Remember to drink all your water and take your vitamins!!
Oh yeah...keep exercising...Just do it!!

Hi!
Your volunteer time sounds like a wonderful, caring thing you are doing. I've never heard of the organization but I am looking for somewhere to volunteer my time. I especially want to do something with the elderly (in memory of my dear grandmother) or with young children. Do you have a web link for them or do you know if they are nationwide?
Thanks!
Ruth
You can call your area hospitals. Most hospitals have Volunteer Services with many different area's to volunteer in. In our hospital our volunteers are greeters/escorts, information desk, help out in offices, volunteer in the gift-shop, out patient surgery, ER and lots more places.
Our No One Dies Alone program is new, we are in our 2nd year of providing this service. A lot of our employees have taken the course and volunteer their time either before work or after. We get a lot of college students that also volunteer in this program. They usually take the midnight to 4am shift or 4am-8am shift and study while they are holding their hand or just sitting by them.
I think it's an excellent idea for you to volunteer in your grandmother's honor.
Other places to consider are area nursing homes, those folks love to have visitors. I go almost every Sunday after church fellowship and sing to them.
Schools are another place that need volunteers. People to read to children and mentor them. The humane society needs dog walkers. I use to do pet therapy but lost my Josie and haven't gotten back to that. One of these days I will.
morning millie and OFF...
must have been a night to feel "weird" i also felt strange in the middle of the night...i ate ALOT of peanuts before bed and i think no i KNOW i ate way to many of them!!! got up a couple times thinking i was gonna be sick but ended up with the poops...TMI sorry. i feel ok this morning tho.
pat r i will be waiting for that rhubarb bread recipe...no hurry right now for it...you get better first!!
annette you seem to have so much fun in your life...even dressing up for a meeting...me i never seem to dress up. just no money for fancy places to go to and get dressed up.
cheryl hope you keep posting because it was nice to see you so often!!!
margo prayers for your bosses daughter still being said...such a sad situation.
connie you seems to be getting better everyday!!! you go girl!!!
hey eileen...i heard the cleveland indians are going to be playing your white sox....go indians....LOL
just want to welcome the newbies i missed and congrats to the ones that made it to the losers bench!!! i read most posts when i have time but can't answer them all because this pc is so SLOW!!! but know i am here for each and everyone of you!!!!
well work yesterday was slow....came in 2 hours after the new woman i trained started her shift...omg what a mess she had going!!! i asked her if this was what i taught her to do...she said no...i asked her then why she had such a mess and things weren't done proper....she said she wasn't ready to work alone...i told her she WAS ready because she did fine when left alone during training!! so i then started cleaning up the mess and she stood there and WATCHED me!!!! GRRRRR i really don't think she is going to work out in the food court at all!!!
also yesterday ricks mom called me and asked if nicole (ricks daughter) and anthony (grandson) could stay with us for a few days...seems her little boyfriends parents changed their phone numbers and told her to leave them alone or they would get her for stalking?? now this doesn't make any sense to me because these parents are SUPPOSED to pay her child support until their son becomes of age. ( he is now 15) and they sure aren't doing the support at all for that baby!!! anyhow nicole is crying and feeling bad for herself...she didn't ask to come to her dads...she wants to go to grandmas (ricks mom) because she can get away with more stuff i guess...rick is very strict with her and if she would have stayed with him she would not be in this situation with having a baby already. she sure finds a way for someone else to watch him so she can go play with her friends!!! just my opinion is all...no need to jump on me over this ok???
well now that i have all that off my chest i will get my shower and then off to find a nice roast for dinner tonight. have a good day everyone and remember SMILE!!!! ;-)
Millie, those so-called "diabetic-friendly" candies give me the runs if I eat too many ... two or three is my limit. My mom, who is diabetic, learned it the hard way ... once, she ate about six or seven at a time and was in the bathroom the next day all morning. Sounds like you had a lot of carbs, with the beans, corn, apple, raspberries and then the sugar alcohols.
Margo, prayers for Alexa. So young to be going! Hang in there this week. It's hard to work these long hours.
Well, day one of training. This new system, called InDesign, seems a lot like QuarkExpress, which was the first pagination program I used and really liked. We learned the copy system first (like Word) and a bit of the pagination system. But it was a long four hours and then I had to work. No OT yesterday ... I got done by 9 p.m. But there may be a few days this week I'll work later.
Well, I'm on the phone with Brenda; guess I'll finish and post this. See ya later.

Boy you guys are early birds with posting.........I normally get up around 6:30 but I do my cardio first thing then shower, make breakfast, make the bed, straighten up and then I finally sit down for a few mins on the PC. Think I'll try to fit in the early morning PC think before the shower so I can keep up with you early risers.....Anyhow.........
Mille: I sure hope you are feeling better now and you blood sugars stabilize.
George: I admire the way you look on the bright side of things. Me, I'm a die hard Met fan....also a Rangers (Hockey) fan.....I sure can pick em huh!
Mary: I sure hope you are feeling better real soon!! Hang in there.
Pat R: please try to get some sleep.......maybe a tylenolPM or something...sleep is so important when healing after surgery! So is protein....make sure you are getting plenty.
Carla K: I think your brother and my brother are one-in-the-same!
For me today........I'm thrilled that I stuck to my plan and did my bike ride this morning. First time riding around the new neighborhood. I have to take the car out and map the route so I know how many miles I travel. I like to do a minimum of 15 in the morning......20 would be great! I need to get a battery for the bicycle odometer.
FYI - the microwave is still waiting to go up. The guy who is going to help never showed up today....this morning he said he'll be about 3pm.....I have an awful feeling I'll be lifting this thing later tonight. Oh well....could be a worse thing.
I need to remind myself like George does.......I'm blessed in many ways......I have people who love me, a roof over my head, I'm relatively healthy, I feel terrific, my dog loves me unconditionally, Matthew is wonderful.......I really don't need much more.

I'm off to the stores shortly........want to look at new living room and dinning room furniture. Also hope to buy some new patio furntiure today. The lanai deck should be finished today, it will be nice to be able to sit outside for a change..
Have a fantastic day.
TTFN

I'm at my desk itching away. The mosquitos got me last night while I slept. I checked one of our bedroom windows and the storm window at the top was down about 4 inches. An open invitation for the mosquitos to bypass the screen.
I hope everyone here has speedy recoveries from all the surgeries and aches and pains. Unless you are an addictive personality, take the pain meds that are offered to you. Don't be stoic and suffer.
Going to a "concert on the green" in the next town tonight. It's free and very relaxing to just sit and listen to the music. The local boy scout troop provides food for purchase so we usually get a hamburger or hot dog.
Tomorrow I'm going with my husband to pick up a treadmill a friend from his work wants to get rid of. That will be very convenient but I have no clue where we will set it up in our home. Rain or shine, I'll have no excuses.
The last time my son, dil and grandkids visited they called us collect on their way home to let us know they got held up with some car problems and not to worry. Well the 4 minute call from Saratoga Springs, NY to Shelton, CT cost $34.50!!!! with something called Zero Plus Dialing. That's outrageous. How do regulators let them get away with that?
Chocolate has been plagueing me lately. There is a big old box of it out at the reception desk that I have to pass every time I go to the ladies room. ARGH.
Focus, focus, focus. LOL.
It just hit me today how tired the long weekend made me. Work frowns upon afternoon naps though. LOL.
Have a good one everybody.
Hugs,
Bev
My appointment with the pcp got changed. Instead of tomorrow afternoon I go see her in Merrillville this afternoon. Otherwise the soonest I could get in to see her here in Portage was July 19 I think she said. I didn't want to wait that long since she took a lot of blood work. I have to remember to get a copy of the blood work. I was talking to Eileen earlier and I think that I am going to have her do all the blood work from now on. I am taking a copy of the tests that Darlene sent to me and go from there. I see a lot of tests on that list that Stanish does not test for and I know that my pcp will. I am seeing a whole new pcp in her since this mess with the surgery. I am impressed with her caring and her help. I was thinking of getting another one but I am going to keep her I do believe.
I went to the library yesterday and just sat and read. I looked a long time at the books and generally just took time for me. I started reading a book "Still Alice" about a Harvard professor who got early onset Alzheimer's. It is so good I can't put it down. I relate to mom so much with this book. I wonder now just how she dealt with it before we knew what was wrong. I always thought that she wasn't as strong a person but with this I am seeing something just the opposite of what I thought. She had to be strong in order to deal with what she had to.... I feel sad and miss her more just reading this book. If you have a chance to read it I strongly advise it...especially if you have a family member or work with someone who has Alzheimer's or another form of dementia.
I better get to moving. I have to get ready since my sister is coming to change the packing and bandages. I hope that everyone has a great day and know that I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers are being said for everyone. Keep smiling and spread the happiness and joy. You will be glad that you did....
We will keep at it tomorrow. Until someone shows to help.
